On Fri?day July 27th, we expe?ri?enced one of the best events we have had the priv?i?lege of being a part of. The ESB we brewed at Sleepy Dog Brew?ery in Tempe was finally released to some very thirsty patrons and we couldn?t have been hap?pier with the turn-out.
This was the first time The Brew Bros col?lab?o?rated with a local brew?ery to make a beer of any kind. As we have stated in a pre?vi?ous post, we choose an ESB hop?ing for a bal?anced ses?sion?able beer, but we also decided to push the IBU?s to the style limit. Sit?ting at 40, we were hop?ing the higher IBU would help attract some of the ?Hop Heads? of Arizona.
The beer turned out won?der?ful. The honey malt used in the beer pro?vided an excel?lent hint of sweet?ness, with the hops tak?ing a bit more of cen?ter stage. There was also a slight dry?ness in the fin?ish cre?at?ing an aspect of mor?ish?ness that left many want?ing more. Over?all, it was exactly what we hoped?for.
We wanted to take the time to thank sev?eral groups of peo?ple. First and fore?most, we want to express our appre?ci?a?tion to Sleepy Dog Brew?ery for giv?ing us the oppor?tu?nity to brew on their sys?tem. Also, The Beer for Brains Foun?da?tion did an excel?lent job attract?ing an extra audi?ence for the spe?cial night. Last, we wanted to thank all the rest of the craft beer com?mu?nity from the fine peo?ple in the Ari?zona Craft Beer Lovers Group to the new employ?ees com?ing from the World of Beer-Tempe. You are all the rea?son we do what we?do.
Remem?ber, this beer is still avail?able so if you didn?t get an oppor?tu?nity to try it, you still have time. Fur?ther, some of the local craft beer bars around the val?ley have pur?chased kegs, so be on the look-out for?those.
