'Tis Sedona's Season for The Met: Live in HD

Three Saturday December Simulcasts Live from Lincoln Center:
La Clemenza di Tito, Un Ballo in Maschera and Aida?at the Sedona Performing Arts Center

Sedona AZ (November 3, 2012) ? Arizona?s premier place to see The Met: Live in HD, the beautifully appointed Sedona Performing Arts Center, comes to life three Saturday mornings in December: the 1st, 8th and 15th all at 11am presented by Chamber Music Sedona.

December 1st is the timeless classic La Clemenza di Tito starring the virtuosic Elina Garanca as she sings Sesto in Mozart?s drama set in ancient Rome. Giuseppe Filianoti is the noble Tito and Barbara Frittoli is Vitellia, in this handsome revival of one of the composer?s final masterpieces. Harry Bicket conducts.

December 8th is Verdi?s Un Ballo in Maschera?in a new production by Director David Alden in his dreamlike setting providing a compelling backdrop for this dramatic story of jealousy and vengeance. Marcelo Alvarez stars as the conflicted king; Sondra Radvanovsky is Amelia, the object of his secret passion; and Dmitri Hvorostovsky is her suspicious husband. Kathleen Kim is the page Oscar, and Stephanie Blythe sings the role of the fortune-teller Ulrica. Fabio Luisi conducts.

December 15th The Met brings Aida to the big screen in its unforgettable production of Verdi?s ancient Egyptian drama starring Liudmyla Monastyrska as the enslaved Ethiopian princess caught in a love triangle with the heroic Radam?s, played by Roberto Alagna, and the proud Egyptian princess Amneris, sung by Olga Borodina. Fabio Luisi conducts.

?The Sedona Performing Arts Center opened its doors October 2010 and continues to develop as an important cultural center,?? said Chamber Music Sedona?s Bert Harclerode. ?We are pleased that the Metropolitan Opera?s technical specifications were installed into the audience chamber including the big screen and projector, and surround-sound system resulting in a magnificent sound and picture. Seats are brand new and each opera is preceded by a pre-opera ?Curtain Raiser?? lecture from 9:45-10:30am: December 1st with Edward Ingraham, December 8th with Russell Fox and December 15th with Thomas Cleman. Box lunches round-out the Sedona Met HD experience complemented by the spectacular panoramic red rocks visible from the lobby and patios.

Lunches must be purchased by 12:30pm Thursday prior to the Saturday opera. Student tickets are $10 at the door with ID. The 2013 Sedona Met Live in HD simulcasts continue January 5.
